Hafez Shirazi
Hafez, a poet of the 8th century AH, is one of the most famous lyricists in the world. Hafez’s Divan can be found in almost every Iranian home, and people turn to his poems to be inspired.
Hafez’s poetry is a combination of love, mysticism, social criticism, and a deep philosophical outlook on life. His language is sweet, concise, and full of mystery. Many of his verses have become proverbs.
Hafez lived in Shiraz, where his tomb is located; a place known as “Hafeziyeh” and considered one of the most important cultural attractions in Iran.
